Interacting with Discourse via Email'

How can I bring up a topic via Email or answer? I recently had a question for the “Platform” category, but could not find out to which address I have to write. After a short time, I got a very helpful answer (thanks!), and wanted to reply, but the address was “noreply@…”.

The Discourse web interface is not my cup of tea and I can work much better and faster in (neo)mutt. My understanding is, that Discourse does support that. But how? Many thanks!

We had gtk mailing list for more than 10 years, but I can not remember a post of you

Have you asked google? “Discourse email” points me to

https://meta.discourse.org/t/start-a-new-topic-via-email-e-mail/62977

so maybe you try that before asking help from Mr Bassi.

Or maybe

While “From” is indeed “noreply@”, the “Reply-To” field is properly set
and, if you’re reading this, works.

Yes, I was confused. Many thanks! Still, my main question
remains: I don’t know how to bring up a new topic by email,
e.g. in the Platform category.

Why would that matter? How do you know which email lists I read?
How would you know under which email accounts I wrote to which
mailing lists? But, well, yes, most of my mails to any Gnome
related mailing lists are much older than ten years.

I’m not aware that I asked Mr Bassi, but anyway, many thanks for
the link. If I understand correctly, I have to send email to
Platform@discourse.gnome.org to open a new topic in the Platform
category? Is that correct?

Many thanks again!

Read this:

But yes, platform@discourse.gnome.org should work

Many thanks, Neil!

That is the information, that was not so easy to get for me.
Maybe I’m a little bit dumb, but maybe this information should
be available more prominently? Maybe you can add this to your
other post:
