Hello! I’m a casual Wikipedia editor and Gnome user and I noticed that on the GDM wiki article there is a listing for a component called the “Chooser”. The description beside it is unclear in what the component actually does. The source cited is an old gnome help article, which has the same unclear explanation. I have looked in the source code and found chooser-main.c but I still can’t tell much from the source code about what it does. So I was wondering if anyone from around here could provide an explanation for what the GDM Chooser is?
I’m not sure but to me it seems like ‘chooser’ is used for remote login i.e. it chooses which computer (attached via network) to log in to.
