Using Gradients

I’m using GIMP 2.01. And apparently GRADIENTS doesn’t seem to work I can “create” GRADIENTS", but I can’t edit them (changing colors and orientation ).

Please, confirm your GIMP version - 2.01 is not even a valid version, and 2.1 would be a developer build from over 15 years ago. Whereas GIMP 2.10 is the current stable series, but there are differences within it - so if you can provide the micro-release, that would be helpful - 2.10.38 is the latest stable version.

I re-checked…….it is 2.10.38

You can’t edit the gradients that are in the standard distribution, you have to make a copy first to your user area. This is also true of brushes, brush dynamics, patterns, palettes, etc…

In the 2.10.x, you can tweak the gradient as you apply it with the gradient tool, and this creates a Custom gradient in the Gradients list that you can rename if you want to keep it.
