Update from the new board

Dear members of the GNOME Foundation and the GNOME community as a whole.

Since the election results were final at the end of last month, elected members have gone through the on-boarding process. This includes signing the corresponding documents, getting updated on current board business, getting access to the different systems, complete a 2 days of part-time meetings, and participate in the AGM. Now that the process is over, the new board is ready to start working!

As part of the initial work during GUADEC the board has appointed new officers (president, secretary, treasurer, chair, vicepresident, vicesecretary, and vicetreasurer), and members of different board and non-board committees (executive, financial, circle, …). The board has done a short exercise to identify priorities for the coming year. From that exercise, the top priorities we identified are:

  • Hire a new ED
  • Improve communication with the community
  • Ensure stable finances

We also identified a number of other priorities which we would like to pursue, including:

  • Improving community health
  • Increasing income from public/grant funding
  • Improving visible financial reporting in the board and to the community
  • Establishing a project governance process
  • Reviewing and improving Foundation governance

We hope to follow up on specific action items as they get implemented, and establish a continuous flow of updates!

The GNOME Foundation Board of Directors

Thanks for the update Pablo!

It looks like this link or footnote got lost when copying your notes to Discourse

Ups! This is still in the works for a transparency report

Guess the issues mentioned in Problems with donations to Gnome will be addressed as part of this.
