I’m currently using Fedora 41 with GNOME Shell 47.1, and I’m running into an issue with navigating between screens in the Overview mode (the window switcher view that opens when pressing the Super key).
I’m using a dual-screen setup:
Screen 1: My laptop screen
Screen 2: An external monitor
The Issue
When I press the Super (Windows) key, I enter the Overview mode, where I can see all my open applications displayed across both screens. However, I haven’t found a way to quickly switch the focus from one screen to the other while in this mode.
Currently:
I can use the arrow keys to navigate between apps on the currently focused screen.
But I can’t seem to move the focus to the other screen without using the mouse, which disrupts the workflow I’m aiming for.
My ideal workflow would be:
- Press Super to enter Overview mode.
- Use a key (preferably “Tab”) to switch focus to the other screen.
- Once focus shifts, I could then use the arrow keys to navigate through applications on that screen.
I’ve searched online and consulted ChatGPT and Claude but haven’t found a way to accomplish this.
Is there a setting or extension that allows switching focus between screens in this overview mode? If anyone has insights or workarounds, I would be more than happy if you could share them!
I know of other workaround like Alt + Tab, or putting one or two programs on one workspace… but it would be very neat to cycle through all my programs on both screen without touching the mouse. Thanks for your help!
