Switching layout by Caps Lock

Hello there!

I use GNOME 46 + Wayland. I would like to switch my keyboard layouts by Caps Lock.

How I can configure this?

I cannot see any way to change this setting in the GUI, I can’t setup even Ctrl+Shift. Only Win+Space works, which is quite big and uncomfortable hotkey.

There are more than 10 different solution in the Internet for this, but lots of them are dubious or incorrect or non-working.

GNOME Tweaks should do the trick:

  • Install&Open GNOME Tweaks
  • Navigate to Keyboard → Additional Layout Options → Switching to another layout
  • Check Caps Lock
  • Done.
