Hi,
I’ve been using an old version of MELD for years (works great!), but always had troubles with the new builds.
So far the last problem I’m having is that I’m working with the encoding CP1252 that isn’t supported. So when I open a file I’ll get “There was a character encoding conversion error and it was needed to use a fallback character.” as it tries to read it as UTF-8.
This messes up my files I’m trying to import into an application later.
Why is this conversion necessary? Can’t it just handle the unknown encoding like old versions?
Best regards
Thalon
Edit: I’m using Meld with Windows
Edit2: It seems to work after this workaround in the registry editor:
I think this should either work out-of-the-box or at least have an UI option.
