Setting text background color in GTK4

GNote has a highlighter function that used to set the selected text background color to yellow.

It’s now displaying in a low-contrast dark gray, rendering it unusable.

Is this no longer possible in GTK4 with CSS or another method?

EDIT: I found a number of text properties [1,2] that might be relevant, but none of them mention background color specifically:
