I’m often adding and removing folders from /home that I want in the tracker database.
One solution might be to add /home to index-recursive-directories
If I do this is it going to begin indexing every dot file directory?

Hello, it should be save to recursively index your $HOME directory. I know Carlos is doing this - and he’s the person who volunteers time to fix most of the bugs in Tracker Miner FS
(I’m assuming you mean $HOME and not /home, tracker-miner-fs runs as your user, its not designed to index other people’s home directories)
Tracker Miner FS ignores hidden files by default, so don’t worry about dot file directories. In fact I think it might be hardcoded to ignore hidden files.
