There’s a message on Emacs bug tracker saying that rsvg_handle_get_dimensions is going to be deprecated.
However I cannot find any indications of that in the documentation. Could you clarify if this function going to be deprecated or not?

I think you might be confusing rsvg_handle_get_dimensions(), which is not deprecated as of librsvg 2.50, and rsvg_handle_get_dimensions_sub(), which was indeed deprecated in 2.46, and should be replaced by rsvg_handle_get_geometry_for_layer().
