Recurring appointments in Evolution Calendar

I am trying to set up a recurring appointment to occur on the 3rd Thursday of each month. As some months will have either 4 or 5 Thursdays in them, setting to every 4th Thursday will not work. Can this be achieved?

What does “every 3rd Thu” have to do with “a month may have 4 or 5 Thu’s but always 3 anyway”? I’m afraid I don’t understand the problem.

Thank you for the reply. By setting the recurring appointment to every 4th Thursday, then, if for example, the first month has 5 Thursdays in it, the first occurrence will be correct however the second occur in the following month will be on the second Thursday instead of the 3rd.
I hope that makes sense.

Hi,
it’s a monthly recurrence. Did you try it at all? I think it’s easy to
spot, when one tries it. Maybe you wanted the weekly recurrence, which
sounds similar, but is for something else. Anyway, File->New->
Appointment->Recurrence tab, check “This appointment recurs”, change
the “Every” from [ day(s) ] to [ month(s) ], which changes it to:

Every [ 1 ] [ months(s) ] on the [ 1st ] [ day ] [ for ] [ 2 ] occurrences

Change the [ day ] to [ Thursday ] and then change the [ first ] (it
was [ 1st ] before) to the one you want. The preview below shows what
it’ll look like, marking the days of occurrence in bold. The more
occurrences you set, the more you’ll see. You can make the window
larger, to see more months.

As far as I can tell, the Fourth Thursday works perfectly fine, when
using the monthly recurrence, not as you thought.
Bye,
Milan

Ah, of course. How silly of me. I got myself a little fixated looking at weekly and did not consider the monthly option. It seems so obvious now. Thank you for your guidance and patience.
