Hi,
I am currently using Meld to compare localization documents. Unfortunately, my “recently used” dropdown menu is always empty, although I definitely did quite some comparisons since installing it. Is that normal?
My system: KDE Neon (Ubuntu 24.04), Wayland, Meld 3.22.2, installed using apt
It also occured in the flathub version, but I found this out:
The comparison is only saved, if initiated from the starting screen.
If I drag & drop a file into meld, and select a file to compare it to, it will not save this comparison tho.
That’s correct, and I think that’s probably the behaviour that we want. I realise that in your case this isn’t what you expect, but I think the alternative would be to save every comparison that gets made, which would result in a lot of comparisons that most users would consider spurious. For example, if we saved every file comparison we made to the recent list, then this would include every time someone started a file comparison from a folder comparison, and I don’t think that’s what people expect to see in the recent list.
