Ordering in file manager when accessed by an app

I have 10 PNG image files in a dir. I click on one of them and "eog" opens the image.

When I click on left-arrow / right-arrow key in "eog" to view to the nearby images, it shows different images from what is actually displayed in the nautilus view. This is because the app ("eog") doesn’t have idea of the sort order currently in use by nautilus.

Is there a way to get the images to be traversed in the order displayed in the "nautilus" view ?

This is currently not possible and sadly not easy to solve. There exist respective issues for EOG and Loupe where you can find more information about the technical details.
