Orca screen reader modifier key only working in the settings menu

I am running Gnome on Arch Linux and have installed Orca. I can launch orca with meta+alt+s however the orca modifier key (insert) does nothing. If however I open the settings menu from the terminal orca -s and the settings menu is the active window the modifier key starts working. The moment I alt tab out the settings menu modifier stops working however alt tabbing back in makes it work again.

The only indication I have that something is wrong is that when I try to change a setting I get the following error in my terminal:

Warning:          Could not load keyboard geometry for :0
                  BadName (named color or font does not exist)
                  Resulting keymap file will not describe geometry

I apologise if I forgot to include anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
