Open application when clicking on notification

I upgraded from Ubuntu 20 with Gnome Shell 36 or so to Debian 12.4 with Gnome 43.
Previously, when a notification was shown I could click on it and it would take me to the application that sent it (Thunderbird for new emails, Slack for new chat messages).

But now clicking notifications just removes them, and I do not get taken to the application.

How do I get the previous behavior back?

Wondering the same thing. Some applications do open like software update from my Manjaro distro but if its open it only dismisses it and doesn’t brings it forward. Some notifications just get dismissed as soon as you click on them. I guess is up to the developers and not configurable to the user at least not without digging a lot into the system.
