New user (hopefully) Getting Gimp to work on M1 apple Imac

I go to the silicon version, it loads and opens, but all the text is in boxes like the typeface hasn’t loaded…how do i get around this? Can anyone help?

(and can you explain for a numpty … this program was recommended as i no longer have access to photoshop but still need to rework images for my business!)

Thanks for finding this for me. Loaded the font but it hasn’t made any difference when i redownload the recent version of the program.

Sorry, designer of the graphic form not coding and drowning in this realm! (my system is Ventura 13 if that makes any difference) . Looking like i will have to try something else…
