Hello GNOME team,
I’ve noticed that with GNOME 47, there’s now support for integrating Microsoft 365 accounts through GNOME Online Accounts, which is an excellent addition. However, I’ve encountered a couple of issues that I hope you can help with:
- Admin Approval Required: When I try to link my Microsoft 365 work account, I’m prompted to get approval from my company’s admin. It seems that GNOME is not a verified app in Microsoft’s ecosystem, which raises concerns about permissions and trust from the admin side. Is there any plan for GNOME to become a verified app with Microsoft, to ease this process?
- Permissions Concerns: The permissions requested, such as read/write access to all sites, appear to be quite broad. My admin is worried about potential data security risks, especially with access to SharePoint and other company resources. Is there a way to limit the scope of permissions when linking Microsoft 365 accounts? Or are these permissions required for full integration of services like SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams?
Any advice or insight into future developments around this would be appreciated!
Thanks for your help!
