When modifying the UserComment EXIF tag with an other application (ex: exiftool), the Comment (F3) in Shotwell shows a string like charset=unicode, or ASCII, or UTF8 at its top.
How to prevent this and have only the comment string without the leading characters ?
I understand that Exif uses a range of bytes on top of the tag value for charset indication. But other app does not show it.
You can’t sorry. It’s a bug in gexiv2 that needs fixing (and me finding time): Ignoring the optional character set definition results in incorrect display of the user comment value (#80) · Issues · GNOME / gexiv2 · GitLab
Thanks for the answer. I understand and I’ll wait for the update. This may explain why this is the same when looking at the picture property using the Right-click Property function of Gnome Nautilus file manager.
Anyway, thanks a lot for Shotwell !
