Issues installing / removing GNOME Boxes .deb version in GNOME Software

I installed the .deb version of GNOME boxes to try it out on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS using the GNOME Software app.
I then tried, using the same app, to delete it using the bin icon. As far as I was aware, the app was uninstalled.
But then, on deciding to have another go at it, again using the GNOME Software app it notes that Boxes is installed and on clicking on it, it briefly shows the bin icon then within a fraction of second then moves to the green Install button. Re-installing and then following the same process to uninstall using the (now) live delete icon has no effect - the app is no longer available but GNOME Software still reports it as installed.
Moreover, I notice that when using “apt list boxes” in terminal it reports “boxes/jammy 2.1.1-2 amd64” which I think may be the cause of the misreporting in GNOME software.
It’s not really impacting my use of the system but is an annoyance which I’d like to clear up.
Any useful tips to do so would be greatly appreciated.

Please report an issue at Issues · GNOME / gnome-software · GitLab.

This is more a user issue than it is a GNOME issue per se.
What I’m looking for is a prompt as to how to fully “clean up” after deleting the app in order to deal with issues like this should they occur in the future.

I think the best way to delete it here is to use the terminal

You can also report the problem on the Gnome Gitlab, it’s always useful for the developers to know when there are problems on there apps

I’ve tried to do that but unfortunately, they make it so difficult to do, I gave up.
