Is it normal to NOT be able to selectively delete trashed emails?

Is it normal to NOT be able to selectively delete emails in the trash?
I seem to be able to only totally the delete ALL emails in the trash. I can’t pick and choose. . .

If this is an IMAP account and you aren’t using a physical Trash
folder, then yes, it’s normal. The standard IMAP Trash is a virtual
folder (“search folder”) and only supports emptying all of the Trash.

If it’s not IMAP, or if it has a physical Trash (this is configured
when you set up the account), then the rules will depend on the
situation.
