Hello,
Sometimes when wanting to correct an email before sending it I find that I am in overwriting mode instead of insertion mode.
How can I correct this to get back to insertion mode ?
Thanks for any feedback.

Hi,
Evolution does not change the insertion mode on its own, it’s usually
switched when pressing the Insert key. A new composer window opens in
the insertion mode, not in the overwrite mode, here, even if I closed
the previous composer window in the overwrite mode.
I’m not aware of any setting for it in Evolution.
If we talk about the Plain Text or HTML messages, then the body is
edited in a WebKitGTK widget. Then it can be something with it, I
guess. Does the Subject line open in the overwrite mode as well?
Bye,
Milan
This almost certainly has nothing to do with Evolution itself. You
simply pressed the Insert key on your keyboard and the editor went into
“overwrite” mode. Press it again and it will go back to “insert” mode.
This is pretty standard behaviour across most apps with a text-editing
interface.

Hello Patrick,
Thanks for your feedback.
The mere fact that my insert button is way up on the functions row I had dismissed that but of course I suppose that I may have touched it by accident.
