Incorrect cursor position with Dock enabled

System: Ubuntu gnome 23.10 (but the problem was also observed on EndeavourOS).
Problem: When the dock is attached to the left edge of the screen, sometimes the cursor starts “missing”, that is, the click occurs not at the place where the mouse is aimed. An example is shown in the screenshot. I’m trying to select a folder in Gnome Boxes, aiming the mouse at one, but hitting another.
(The problem is also observed in other applications, for example, in LibreOffice.)

The problem occurs both in dash-to-dock and ubuntu-dock, but it disappears if:
a) enable the auto-hide function in the dock.
b) move the dock to the bottom of the screen.
What can be a reason?
