In Gimp 2.99, how to chainlink a layer and a path, to apply the same transform to both?

In Gimp 2.10 i frequently transform a path and a layer together by putting a chainlink on each. What is the equivalent maneuver on 2.99?

This is not possible without the linking functionality.

Of course just having a path selected as well canā€™t pick it for transform, as there is always a default selected path. Linking would make it explicit.

So, link has been removed and there is no replacemenr?

Yes.

That is part of we still taking individual contributors ā€œI will just do thatā€ approach to the app, unfortunately.
As for this issue, I canā€™t think of any workaround for now, but for a new feature on 3.2 - either bringing linking back, or allow transforms to affect all items tagged in a common form in another way (which would not have the same UI as linking, but otoh, would allow for multiple item groups)

If we could save transform settings (after all these are just a few matrix values, arenā€™t they?) then we could reapply the very same transform on another item. ot exactly as practical, but usable.
