All this time, I kind of disliked GNOME as a DE just because it didn’t look like Windows. I’ve tried KDE , Cinnamon, XFCE, MATE but never GNOME.
After distro hopping several times for years, I finally settled with Linux Mint Cinnamon last week but as usual I started having severe display scaling issues as everything was so tiny. I had to enable fractional scaling which broke a lot of apps.
I was finally fed up with the performance of Cinnamon and looked at GNOME 47 and tested it on Fedora on DistroSea and my god, the user interface looked so good when compared to Cinnamon and it felt very satisfying to use it.
Since I was looking for a new DE for my Mint and was too lazy to install everything on a new distro, I decided to replace Cinnamon with GNOME on Mint yesterday and oh boy I never felt this comfortable using my laptop.
My work speed increased on GNOME by ten folds as I can instantly switch between windows and instances using gestures. It feels so satisfying to use it.
I really wish I didn’t delay using GNOME for this long.
