Did you probably mean that you installed gnote
non-native version (snap etc), and launching it from desktop shell launches /usr/bin/gnote
and not the non-native gnote
(snap etc) ?
In which case, this should be discussed in https://discourse.ubuntu.com/.
Also, please provide more information to get faster resolution.
I am trying to use a gnote file that holds a lot of stuff. For years I have been using the gnote to replace one in a new installation and it works all the time. Now, however, if I do that, gnote starts doing stuff, then stops, then does nothing. I choose where to replace on a new install by putting in one note then searching for the word “gnote” and choosing the gnote that has been used today. This has always worked but no more.
I wonder if its got to do with how its now being installed. There seems to be a gnome gnote and then a different gnote. I know, there is also a snap gnote and I am not sure which one that is or even if both available gnotes are the same.
As I mentioned. This particular gnote is not in my snap (actually there is nothing in my snap which is odd all by itself). I have gone through the synchronize thing. I have changed the name of mine, I have tried to do the synchronize the every which way but I cannot seem to do it.
Thoughts?
Yes. It appears there are 2 closely related apps.
Both are 2 different apps though. I think you’re referring to Gnote, and not GNOME Notes.
Ubuntu 22.04 LTS is old (though supported). You should consider upgrading to 24.04 LTS if possible. If that’s not possible at the moment, you can install flatpak / snap version of the gnote
, which should have a newer gnote
version.
Regarding the issues you’re facing, you can try reporting it in https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnote/-/issues.
