How to open a Text Editor document in another app

so I have Text Editor open with a bunch of markdown documents.

is there a way to open the selected tab in another app?

perhaps with an extension or script, that could be tied to a shortcut.

Can Text Editor be queried using CLI to extract the path?

I’d like to open the document in Apostrophe, which renders markdown very nicely.

I wrote a script that converts the document to HTML and opens in Firefox
