How to get on-screen keyboard on 2-in-1s / tablets etc?

While using Gnome 41 I’ve been super happy with the way I could swipe from the bottom to invoke on-screen keyboard. I can’t do that on Gnome 42. Is there a way to get it back?
I found it perfect while using my Thinkpad Yoga as a tablet, or in tent mode and seriously miss it.

I am having the same trouble that you are but I can’t find anyone talking about it except a mention that it works better on X11 than Wayland. Of course, everything else about touch is better on Wayland so I don’t want to try that. The only place the keyboard seems to work is searching applications. On the lock screen the keyboard shows but I can’t type anything. This is a frustrating problem that I hope gets some attention.
