How to disable an attached screen temporarily?

I use a laptop and an external screen with USB-C docking. That setup is very good in lots of situations, but other times the external screen is a bit taxing on me, so I’d only use the internal laptop screen.

If I want to disable the external screen and keep the laptop docked, do I have a different option than to disable the second screen in the settings? Is there a way to more temporarily, more quickly disable it? I’m using gnome 44 wayland session.

One downside on disabling the screen in the setting is that gnome also discards the screen settings, most importantly to me the multiscreen arrangement. The default side-by-side one is completely wrong for me.
