How do you create a default Gnome desktop configuration?

I’m building a new computer for my parents and giving them Linux (Fedora or Debian) and I want to have their desktop configured for them when they log in the first time. I have a login script that requires them to setup google-authenticator so they won’t need to worry about their passwords but I want to have their desktops set up the same to mimic windows.

In the default desktop I will configure

  • Gnome extensions
  • Dash to Panel
  • Size of the taskbar
  • Install Chrome apps (Drive, Docs, Sheets)
  • Office Web Apps
  • I wish there was a Google Photos app & Chrome Remote Desktop

I’d like to place shortcuts to web pages on their desktop as well but I can just put that on their Chrome bookmarks bar.

This is basically all they need.
