How do I mount a Samba share using Kerberos credentials without pkilling gio?

I’m cross-posting a question I asked on Ask Ubuntu, since I haven’t gotten any responses there.

As described, I can only mount a Samba share through gio with Kerberos credentials if I run pkill gvfs first; otherwise I’m prompted for login credentials. How might I use Kerberos credentials for authentication without this extra step, or at least get some debug output so I can see what the problem is?
