Help wanted packaging gnome-info-collect

gnome-info-collect is a small command line tool which allows users to anonymously send data about their GNOME system to the GNOME project. It is being worked on by Vojtěch Staněk, and we are planning on running a campaign next month to encourage people to run the tool, so we can get a better idea about how people are using their GNOME systems.

There will be a public announcement about the project soon. Before that happens, we’d love to have packages available for as many distros as possible. So far, only Fedora, CentOS and RHEL are covered.

If anyone can help package this tool for other distros, that would be amazing!

Great, what kind of data will be collect ?

There’s an open ticket to add the list of data to the readme. In the mean time, you can see it here.

Thanks Allan, thats what I was looking at

Awesome, thanks @heftig !

It has been packaged by the awesome openSUSE GNOME team ( gnome-info-collect project on OBS). It will probably take some days to be part of openSUSE Tumbleweed.

We’ve started adding a list of the packages that exist to the project README, along with installation instructions. It would be amazing if anyone can help to improve those.
