GNOME’s social hour event

Hello everyone!

I am excited to to let you know that we will be reviving GNOME’s social hour event! The first one will be held on 25th March. The purpose of this social hour is to bring together the GNOME community. It will also be an excellent opportunity for newcomers to meet frequent GNOME contributors. Since the GSoC and Outreachy application period is going on, we also saw this as a great opportunity to try to invite the mentors of the GNOME projects!

Following are the details of the event:
Date: 1st April, 2024
Time: 17:30 UTC
Location: BigBlueButton

Agenda:

  • Welcome and introductions
  • Ice breaker sessions
  • Socializing with the GNOME Community!

We look forward to seeing you at the social hour!

Same time I assume? Hopefully nothing related to April Fools’ Day?

Yes, the rest of the details remain the same. Haha no, nothing linked to April’s fools

Looking forward to this! Following some discussion in the GNOME D&I Team Matrix room, I am also going to extend an invite to this session to Outreachy applicants in the Fedora Project to get to know the GNOME Project better.

I added this to the Fedora Calendar, and I will socialize this in our mentoring channels as well.

Also, to clarify, we thought to try this as a one-time experiment and see how it goes. If it goes well, we could try other fusion social hours with Fedora and GNOME, beyond just Outreachy too.
