Hi, gnome_version.xml has been removed from gnome-desktop. gnome-control-center will now get the GNOME version from GNOME Shell using a D-Bus API.
When updating to the forthcoming gnome-desktop 43.alpha, you’ll need to make sure to update gnome-control-center and gnome-initial-setup as well.
