GNOME Black Screen Issue in GNOME 45 with External Monitor Any Fix?

Hi Everyone,

Iam facing a frustrating issue with my external monitor while using GNOME on Arch Linux. Whenever I connect a second display, the entire screen goes completely black screen, and the system becomes unresponsive until I unplug the monitor.

This issue persists regardless of the settings I adjust. My system setup includes GNOME 45.1 running on Wayland with an Intel Iris Xe graphics card. I have tried several troubleshooting steps, including modifying display settings through gnome-control-center, but the changes do not save.

Running xrandr auto did not work since it is unsupported on Wayland, and even switching to X11 did not resolve the problem. I am wondering if this is a known bug in GNOME related to multiple displays or if it could be an Intel driver compatibility issue.

Would enabling Mutter debugging mode help diagnose the cause? If anyone has encountered a similar issue and found a fix, I would appreciate your insights. Thanks in advance!

GNOME 45 on Arch Linux?

Arch Linux should have a more recent GNOME version.
