GIMP 3.0.4 release planned (possibly) on Sunday 11th of May

Hi translators!

We have been discussing releasing GIMP 3.0.4 next Sunday. It is not 100% sure because we are currently blocked on a bug in GCC for Windows 32-bit (there is a patch, but we are hoping it will make it to MSYS2 repository before end of week). Anyway, we’ll see.

Note that we are still mostly in string and feature freeze until we move on to GIMP 3.2 work (should start end of May).

Maybe GIMP should drop 32-bit system support.

There’s discussions about doing that, but we’re hoping to keep it at least through the 3.0.x bugfix releases. There’s already been a proposed fix for the build issue upstream, so we’re hoping this will be implemented and fixed in time.

In fact our current decision is to have GIMP 3.2 to be the last Windows 32-bit version: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues/10922#note_2402497

GIMP 3.0.4 is now released: GIMP 3.0.4 Released - GIMP

Our next step is that we are very soon going out of string freeze and we will start working towards GIMP 3.2. Therefore expect strings to break and be moving in the next few weeks. We’ll tell you when we’ll go into string freeze again.

Thanks all!
