Feature request: open all new windows as a tab within currently open window

I’ve noticed a big productivity problem with Nautilus is opening tons of new windows. If I go to firefox/chrome downloads and click “open file location” it will open a new window for every file, even if Nautilus is still open.

It would make a better workflow if Nautilus defaulted to opening files in a new tab within the already open window. Only if Nautilus is closed should it open a new window to the file.

Many people indicated that they don’t want this behavior, as such this can only be a preference and subject to preference addition tradeoff.

A checkbox in settings would be fine with me.
