Hello folks!
Laptops are a mainstay for many of us in our daily lives. Research shows that limiting a laptop battery’s charge to 80% can significantly extend its lifespan. While most Windows vendors integrate a feature for this, Linux users currently require a terminal command.
echo 80 | sudo tee /sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/charge_control_end_threshold
I believe a great addition to Gnome’s settings would be an option to manage the maximum battery charge level within the power management menu. This would provide a user-friendly way to optimize battery health for Linux users as well.
