Subject: Feature Request: Integrate Bluetooth into Nautilus Sidebar (GNOME 48+)
Dear GNOME Community,
I’m writing to propose a feature enhancement for Nautilus, the default file manager in GNOME, specifically regarding Bluetooth integration.
While Nautilus 48 offers excellent performance and the “Send via Bluetooth” option in the right-click context menu is functional, I believe adding a dedicated “Bluetooth” entry directly to the sidebar’s “Places” section would significantly enhance the user experience and workflow.
Why is this important?
- Improved Discoverability: A visible sidebar entry would make it immediately clear that Bluetooth file transfers are easily accessible, even for new users.
- Streamlined Workflow: Instead of navigating to a file first, right-clicking, and then selecting the Bluetooth option, a sidebar entry could potentially allow for direct device Browse or initiation of transfers, similar to how external drives or network locations are handled.
- Consistency: Integrating Bluetooth alongside other “places” like Documents, Downloads, and external drives would provide a more consistent and intuitive file management experience.
- Efficiency for Frequent Users: For those who frequently transfer files wirelessly, this would be a significant quality-of-life improvement, reducing clicks and thought processes.
I’d be keen to hear the community’s thoughts on this and if this is something that could be explored for future Nautilus releases.
