[Feature] More image editing options

Since I got my new phone last week, I’ve been capturing and also editing some pictures. While I use GIMP for more complex edits, it find that it is very much overkill for simple edits such as changing the brightness, contrast, saturation etc.

At some point, I discovered the editing functionality in Loupe. While I love the option to rotate, flip and crop images (edits I previously did on my Phone to save time in GIMP), I also wish I could do the other simple edits I mentioned above.

(This is an image I took myself by the way, in-case anyone is wondering)

Because of that, I’m suggesting that the editing functionality be expanded to include some of the following options, which I would consider to be enough for 90% of people.

  • Brightness
  • Contrast
  • Saturation
  • Color Temperature
  • Sharpness

These are properties that I believe are worth adding, as they are the most common from my experience. Since this would be a bigger UI and UX change, I’m opening this discussion topic first. I’m not sure what the consensus is on this idea within the GNOME team and the community, but I happily accept all positive feedback and constructive criticism.

IMHO, they might be overkill for a small app like Loupe.

On the other hand, KDE Image Viewer (Gwenview) has this capacity.

I think you should open an issue about it
