Hi
Is there a bash shell command to instruct nautilus to refresh desktop icons (Same as pressing F5 key but without having to press F5 key) ?
Have tried xdotool. Wondered if there are any alternatives.

Hi, can you clarify if you mean “old school” Nautilus desktop icons, or if you are using the Desktop Icons extension for GNOME Shell?
Not sure.
O/S is Ubuntu Desktop 18.04 LTS 64 bit.
Will be updated to 20.04.1 LTS when available.
I have found that following
gio set ~/Desktop/MyApp.desktop “metadata::trusted” yes
with
touch ~/Desktop/MyApp.desktop
updates icon display on desktop.
Issue resolved.
