Evolution: what future?

Hello everyone,

I have been a very happy user of Evolution for many years. It is objectively the only email client on Linux that properly manages my professional mailbox (exchange pro).

If I understand correctly, the evolution of the Outlook-side protocols will destabilize the ecosystem. Is there a risk that I won’t be able to use Evolution soon?

In advance thank you for your lighting.

Good day.

Hi, which Exchange Pro version? Which Evolution version? What does “the evolution of the Outlook-side protocols” and “destabilize the ecosystem” mean exactly and how do you come to your conclusions? References welcome. Thanks!

I just want to know how to allow all images to be displayed… Where do I ask this question?

In a separate thread as images have nothing to do with Outlook-side protocols which this thread is about. Please also provide sufficient context in that new thread, how to reproduce some situation in which not all images are displayed, and version information.

I was thinking about the protocol exchange (EWS/OWA) which becomes (Graph)

Hi,
I suppose you use the “Exchange Web Services” (EWS) account type. It
comes from the evolution-ews project. The same project also provides
a “Microsoft 365” (m365) account type, which is a nickname for the
Microsoft Graph API, thus you just create a new mail account of type
“Microsoft 365” and that’s all, you can continue using Evolution.

Please note the work is quite different between the protocols, thus
it’s likely if you are used to some behaviour with the EWS, it can
behave differently in the m365. Also make sure you’ll use some recent
Evolution, 3.62.x the best, or at least some 3.60.x, because the m365
had some bugs found while it was enabled for the users in its “beta”
stage.

Milan
