Evolution w/Microsoft365 struggles to delete thousands of items at a time

Hi,

I am using Evolution 3.54.3 on Fedora 40 w/hotmail.com/microsoft365 account.

I had folders that had anywhere between 1,000 to 3,000 messages in them. I tried to delete them by going into the folder and Crtl - A and hit Delete. Evolution will process a few hundred or so, then it does one of a few things:

The bottom bar gets filled up with many statuses of what’s queued to do (with a “X”).

  1. crashes gnome-shell thereby kicking me out of GNOME and usually forcing a reboot
  2. halts, forcing the GNOME message to effect of “your app has stopped. Force Quit or Wait”. I forget the exact wording of the (gnome-shell?) message
  3. becomes completely unresponsive to clicks that I must start a bash shell and run evolution --force-shutdown or kill -9 or reboot
    a. then deal with Evolution configuration and/or mailbox state corruption issues if I had to force it (kill/reboot)

Also, deleting the Folder containing the (1k to 3k) messages gave Evolution trouble as well.

I used OWA to clean up what Evolution had left (un-deleted messages and folders).

Best,

Hi,
bugs for the m365 are tracked here:

It’s less likely (read: unlikely) to be lost if filled there.
