Evolution preview shows only 1 row of the message

Since a few days, Evolution shows only the header and 1 row of the message. See screenshot.

This happens with all recipients in all accounts. I am using Evolution already for several years and I never had a problem of this type. I searched for a setting to correct this, but I don’t found any.

I am running Evolution on the following platform:
Operating System: openSUSE Leap 15.5
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.103.0
Qt Version: 5.15.8
Kernel Version: 5.14.21-150500.55.19-default (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11
Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz
Memory: 11,7 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: llvmpipe

Can someone help?

Thanks in advance.

Patrick

Please ask your distribution to ship an updated WebKitGtk version for you.

Thank you for quick reply, will do.

opensuse 15.5
GNOME 41.8
X11
AMD® Athlon 3000g with radeon vega graphics x 4
AMD® Radeon vega 3 graphics

Am also dealing with same/similar problem

Able to read when use PRINT to PDF

.

GNOME 41.8 is very old. Please contact your distro to fix its packages. Thanks!

Andre,

You’re right: openSUSE Leap 15.5 still uses Gnome 41.8.

I will suggest to upgrade it, but I don’t think openSUSE will change its timing to fix Gnome specially for this issue of Evolution.

@paulparker Paul, I also can read the message if I edit it, but then the links are not usable.

Err, I see my yesterday reply by mail has got lost (again), bad Discourse, bad… https://gitlab.gnome.org/Infrastructure/Infrastructure/-/issues/1014 I wrote:

Hi,

this is not accurate. In fact, I’d not be surprised it’s the opposite.
They probably updated WebKitGTK, but they missed to update also
Evolution, which needed several fixes to work with dropped frame
flattening in the WebKitGTK.

If you want to get to the latest Evolution without playing with the
distro, then probably the best choice is to use a Flatpak (Flathub.org)
version of it, which has its limitations, but maybe not that sever.

The information from this thread applies here as well:

Bye,
Milan

It’s WebkitGtk that needs updating, basically (not really “GNOME”).

When I PRINT the pdf file then am able to copy the URL links then open them in Firefox and Web

I’m not sure whether it’ll really work, but could change width of the preview panel when this happens? That can help sometimes. Getting newer/latest Evolution will avoid a need for such workarounds.

BTW am NON-Technical… though certainly curious

Self considering Preview Panel shrinking with recent upgrade and if the Text Editor settings changed ?

Where best to find and read the upgrade details ?

I’m sorry, I do not follow what you mean with the above.

That’s possibly a question for your distribution. Respective packages provide “change logs” by their own way. For example Evolution-related projects use the NEWS file. Not every change can be recorded in the “change logs”, it’s up to the projects what they write there.

I am considering to upgrade Evolution to v3.50 but what are the requirements to do that?
