Eraser Tool Outline Toggle

I must admit I did not search the site to see if this has been asked before. I believe I would need a better understanding of the application’s jargon to effectively search.

When I am trying to erase small spots that are close to spots I want to keep, the outline of the eraser tool will prevent me form being able to see if I got all I wanted. I have to move the mouse and move it precisely back. I would like to be able to toggle the outline of the eraser tool on/off. If I could just toggle the outline to “off,” then I could see if I got what I wanted accurately erased, without moving the mouse. Toggle it back on and then move the mouse a pixel closer to what I need to erase.

I hope I explained that well enough to be understood. Thank you

Can’t see a way to act directly on the brush outline. Alternatives:

  1. Use the keyboard to switch to another tool that doesn’t obstruct the view (‘M’ for measure for instance) and then back to the eraser (shift-E).
  2. If you use multi-windows mode, use View > New view to create a second view of the image. You will see the effect of the tool, without the tool pointer over it. Each view has its own pan/zoom so you can also have a zoomed in-view for accuracy and a zoomed-out view for general looks.
