Faces of GNOME
- a face book (not a Facebook)]
- this should move to faces.gnome.org at some point
- Namespace clash with Friends of GNOME (GNOME Faces, GNOMEies?)
- Can you share the link to Gnomebook? j/k but can you share the link? https://teams.pages.gitlab.gnome.org/Engagement/websites/contributors-index/

- Set a schedule for updating
- ACTION ITEM: Define qualifications for being listed and the procedure to become listed, Create an Issue on GitLab (@Claudio)
Rocket.chat
- We love it! Thanks!
- Technically not “official,” but a lot of IRC use has been deprecated* (* no longer used)
- Rocket.chat has some nice features. Good job, rocketchat!
- ACTION ITEM: Help teams state whether they use IRC or rocket.chat for their official communications and/or make a database/list
- ACTION ITEM: Write a post for the Engagement Blog about communication channels (e.g. rocketchat, discourse, etc)
- ACTION ITEM: Update the wiki to include list of channels on rocketchat/IRC
- Might end up being a big project
- @Monica volunteered to spearhead – tag @madhens on the Gitlab issue
- Add directory to welcome message to https://chat.gnome.org/directory/channels-
Announcement that we have moved the official conversation to Rocket chat.
Managing Communities
- Reddit and Discourse aren’t always easy to moderate, manage, and take care of
- Is Reddit an official GNOME communication channel? Unknown.
- If the moderators of reddit leave then it will fall back on staff. Is the time of staff worth it?
- Unique conversations happen on Reddit, which are valuable; lots of people are there.
- @federico and the Onboarding Initiative!

Events platform
- We now use Indico. Thanks, @Britt et. all
- Sections/Categories specifically for official events; others exist for meetups, local events, etc
Onboarding Process Initiative
- CHAOSS project collaboration
- Asking: What does GNOME have to document? What can we measure?
- Relevant to GSoC work/etc.
- Newcomers and mentor matching would be cool, but it’s important to set expectations
- Engagement Team should allow new contributors go through the newcomers channel
G.O redesign
- @Bart and @Britt are working on this
- It’s going to be in WordPress
- Evan worked on terrifying @ WordPress revamps for a while, so if you ever want to ping me
