EndeavorOS 5.17 kernel break with Gnome 42 using gnome-boxes

Hello guys

There are problems with gnomes-boxes, once used in EndeavorsOS with Gnome 42, where kernel 5.17 breaks when trying to open the already installed VM. There are also occasional errors in qemu in audio and video.

Here are the topics covered in this link, as well as logs, images and other facts presented:

( After updating the Gnome boxes, the crashes are constant - Applications - EndeavourOS )

Thinking it was a “system break” error, I formatted and reinstalled EOS again with Gnome 42 and the same situation occurs. There are times when everything crashes and it is necessary to turn off the Desktop button to restart the machine.

This link below shows that I did a fresh install:

( EndeavorOS installation is not working properly - #13 by pebcak - Newbie - EndeavourOS )

Desktop ram consumption is excessive when using gnome-boxes opening any VM.
It is not possible to change the name of the VM already installed. gnome-boxes does not accept change.

Here are the latest logs for consideration:

I suggest you try our GNOME Boxes Flatpak which bundles the whole virtualization stack within, considering that your issues seem to be issues that are specific to your distribution. This way we can rule out whether the problem is with Boxes or with the operating system.

Hello @felipeborges

I’ve already done that and the experience was the same. Not with the same errors and if you want I can do it again and show you more details.

What do you think?

In fedora it also has errors when running and closing the gnome-boxes application, as these are the two distributions I use here at home.
The EOS forum link I posted above has more details and you will see the output error message.

I’m on kernel 5.17.5-300.fc36.x86_64 and I don’t have the issue. I will keep on researching. Please, let me know if you have any new finding that can lead to solving this issue.

I’ll continue installing the ISO and see if anything else appears.
