Does the GTK license permit copying its code in my project?

Hi,
Am I allowed to bring the GTK source code in my own program, modify it and host modified file on the github along with all other of my sources?

GTK is released under the terms of the GNU Lesser General Public License, version 2.1 or later. This means you can copy the code present in GTK into your project if, and only if, you are releasing your own code under the terms of the GNU General Public License, either version 2.0 or any later version.
