Does NetworkManager support 802.11ac and 802.11ax for hotspots?

When I create a hotspot with mode=ap (access point), devices connect with Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n), even though the hotspot network card and client network card support Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 6. This seems like it should have an obvious answer, and yet there is a lack of answers; e.g. these two stackexchange superuser posts that have no answer:

Both of the above posts outline my same issue. Is it possible to create a hotspot that will support connecting with the 802.11ac or 802.11ax standard?

It doesn’t matter if I use the 5 Ghz or 2.4 Ghz band (i.e. setting band to ‘a’ or ‘bg’). The network card on the device I’m creating the hotspot is a Realtek rtl8852be. I’m on the Linux 5.10 kernel.
