Define custom storage folder

I am using geary (Apps/Geary - GNOME Wiki!) for my e-mails, but I have little space in my home folder since the computer is operated by my employer’s IT service. The IT service provided me with some disk space on a different location (/scratch/), however geary stores my mails in ~/.local/share/geary. Is there a way to change this location away from the home directory (e.g. to /scratch/.local/share/geary)?

I havent’t tested it, but you may try symlinking from home to /scratch:

ln -s /scratch/.local/share/geary ~/.local/share/geary

Thanks for the suggestion, I tried it, but it does not work unfortunately.
