Corner Consistency

Even though many windows in GNOME 49 have rounded corners, quite a few still have sharp angles on the bottom two corners. Why isn’t it possible to make all windows rounded like in Windows and macOS? Will future updates make all corners rounded?

The answer is quite simple.

GNOME could, in theory, round all corners of all windows. There are extensions out there which do that.

However, it can’t be ruled out that there is some UI element or information that would be cut off if GNOME would round corners unilaterally.
Theredore, rounded corners need to be opted in by the developers. If the developers decides to have the corners rounded, like by using libadwaita’s window class, they can design the UI to account for that.

GNOME cannot meaningfully enforce this without breaking things for users; and before you ask “what it we made it an option”, I strongly encourage you to read this essay from the GNOME 2 era.

Your opinion actively discards the will of application developers and users.
